Many families who have children with special needs struggle to find acceptance, often feeling their children don’t “belong.” One way we share God’s love with them is through our special needs ministry, GRACE Respite.

GRACE stands for: God reaches all children everywhere, and is a once-a-month experience for children with special needs (and their young siblings) that gives their parents a much needed evening out. The only thing that rivals the blessings the families experience is the blessings experienced by the volunteers. Our GRACE volunteers have a heart for these families and understand that children are blessings from God and need His love regardless of their circumstances.

Sensory Room

The sensory room is the newest addition to GRACE. It’s a safe space where children who struggle with sensory experiences can go to take a break and calm their senses. This special room is calming, with soft lights, soft music, and activities that help the body settle. It includes various sitting options for calming and a mini trampoline for those needing to work out some extra energy.

GRACE Buddies

GRACE buddies is Brookwood's program for partnering with children who need extra support during Brookwood's kids activities. A one-on-one buddy provides one-on-one leadership and attention for any child who needs additional support. These volunteers are equipped with resources from our sensory room that allows individualized care. Please let us know if your child could benefit from our GRACE buddy program.
